About us
BMI belongs to the Department of Computer and System Science (Faculty of Engineering) of the University of Pavia. Established in 1982, it is a leading centre for education, research and IT innovative solutions in healthcare area. Nowadays about 30 people are working at BMI, focusing their research on:
- Bioinformatics
- Clinical Data Mining
- Models of Biological Systems
- Biomedical Knowledge Management
- Decision Support Systems
- Telemedicine
- E-learning.
BMI staff has a long experience in a wide range of engineering and biomedical informatics technologies:
- Software Engineering
- Web-based IT decision support
- Artificial Intelligence.
During the last ten years, BMI has participated in several European projects funded by EU Research Programmes (Summit, Inheritance, Mobiguide, M2DM, MyHeart, Homey, T-IDDM, GAMES) and by the Italian Research Ministry (Italbionet).
